Throughout my green beauty journey, I’ve always struggled to find a swap for my exceptionally performing conventional mascaras (I’ve leaned toward Too Faced and Maybelline). I still find myself, shamefully, reaching for conventional mascaras. Green beauty patrol — forgive me! Attempts to find a suitable green mascara for my combination/oily skin have always ended in frowns, raccoon eyes, fall-flat lashes, and a dramatic single tear rolling down my cheek.
Until now.
Enter Ere Perez’s waterproof avocado mascara. An Australian brand whose philosophy centers on supplying healthy, natural makeup, Ere Perez’s products are free from parabens, talc, petrolatum, lead, propylene glycol, BHT, BHA, synthetic fragrances, and paraffin — just to name a few. They’re cruelty-free too!
I have been eyeing this mascara for a long time, and I’m officially a convert. I absolutely love its sleek white packaging, and my lashes have never responded well to thin silicone brushes, so I’m thrilled that this mascara has a full cone-shaped brush.
Here’s a closer look:
When it comes to ingredients, I must admit, this mascara is a bit of a compromise. Check them out below:
carnauba wax, palm kernel wax, soybean oil, cachuananche oil, dimethicone, mamey oil, sweet almond oil, isopropyl palmitate, avocado oil, palmitic acid, tocopheryl acetate, orange oil, bergamot oil, iron oxides
I would consider this a mostly clean mascara. The formula includes dimethicone, which is a silicone derivative and rates a 3 on the Environmental Working Group website; however, the overall performance of this mascara is so fantastic that I’m willing to make a compromise regarding the inclusion of this ingredient. All remaining ingredients rate a 2 or lower on EWG.
Performance:
- Formula: dryer formula, volumizes (I like 2-3 coats) more than lengthens
- Fragrance: it doesn’t really smell like anything other than oil, which is unsurprising given the ingredients
- Sensitivity: none, and I’m a contact-wearer with sensitive eyes
- Flaking: none, leaves lashes soft and stays put all day (no raccoon eyes — even when applied to bottom lashes)
- Curl: lashes stay curled throughout the day, even with 3 coats
- Removal: comes off easily with an oil such as coconut or jojoba

Price: $28.00 USD on Amazon
Waste: This mascara is a certified carbon neutral product! The outer cardboard packaging is recyclable, but I’m unsure if the tube is also recyclable. Did you know, however, that you can donate used mascara wands to help save wildlife? If you want to find out how you can help fur babies with your mascara wands, click here: https://www.appalachianwild.org/wands-for-wildlife.html
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this mascara. If you’re looking for a cleaner, volumizing formula, you might love this too! It lives up to what it says it does; it’s smudge-proof, waterproof, and conditioning. Could a gal ask for anything more? I think not!
What about you? Have you tried Ere Perez? Do you have a favorite green mascara?

February 16, 2018 at 1:50 pmThanks, doll! You know, I should really post a “before” photo so you can see the difference. I’ll update the post soon. 🙂 Also, I would definitely give this mascara a shot if you’ve had trouble finding one. In fact, if you can get into a stockist and sample it, even better. There has to be a stockist who carries this brand in Switzerland, right?!
